Iroquois Trail

This 3.6-mile (out-and-back) scenic trail follows the route of the old Lehigh Valley Railroad’s Montrose Branch through the Susquehanna Greenway River Town of Tunkhannock. It is a great biking path and you will be completely immersed in nature as you pass through the forests of hemlocks and hardwoods, and see moss and white lichen-covered rocks.

Luzerne County Levee Trail

Also known as the Susquehanna River Commons, the Luzerne County Levee Trail is a 12-mile paved path made up of 4 different reaches on either side of the Susquehanna River, and includes the communities of Wilkes-Barre, Hanover Township, Plymouth, Edwardsville, Kingston, Wyoming, and Forty Fort.

This 12.5-mile trail runs through forests, parks, and green spaces. During this trail, you will also find one of the country’s few remaining drive-in movie theaters. The diverse views through this path make it a perfect adventure.

Bloomsburg Rail Trail

This 3-mile trail runs along a former rail bed. This makes the path accessible to bikers of all levels. The path follows the east bank of Fishing Creek. It hosts all types of activities including biking, walking, hiking, or running.

North Branch Canal Trail

This 3.5-mile trail, starting in Danville, travels along the old North Branch Canal route. Today, trail visitors can see remnants of the old canal as well as natural wildlife, plants, and the beautiful Susquehanna River. The semi-natural pathway makes it a great trail for off-road bicyclists.

Geisinger Stewardship Forest & Hopewell Park

The Geisinger Stewardship Forest offers 8 miles of trails that range in difficulty from leisurely, flat hiking to more difficult, steep ascents. The area is known for its multi-use trails that are favored by mountain bikers. Nearby Hopewell Park is located just a few miles away and features an additional 11 miles of trails that are designated for mountain bikers.

J. Manley Robbins Trail

The J. Manley Robbins Trail is a short trail with a long history, known as being the oldest documented rail-trail in the country. The trail leads through a beautiful deciduous forest high above the Mahoning Creek. The original trail is barely one mile long, but combined with an old Reading Railroad line, the trail makes a 3.8-mile loop.

Pine Creek Rail Trail

The Pine Creek Rail Trail is a 62-mile stretch that starts in the West Branch of the Susquehanna Greenway in Jersey Shore. While this trail is perfect for bikers, it also provides a perfect location for walking and even allows horseback riding on portions of the trail.

Bald Eagle Valley Rail Trail

The current 6-mile trail (open in sections) is located on the West Branch in Clinton County. The trail follows down a former railroad bed and travels a scenic path alongside the river. At the Castanea trailhead is a caboose that serves as an Airbnb.

Lock Haven Levee Trail

The Lock Haven Levee Trail is a 2-mile path that gives bikers a perfect view of the Susquehanna River. The trial also runs into an Amphitheater and Floating Stage that is used during the Summer months.

The Williamsport River Walk trail spans 4 miles in Lycoming County. The trail is paved with Asphalt, making it easily accessible for activities like walking and biking.

Running between Hepburnville and Williamsport, this 5-mile bikeway follows the former Penn Central Railroad to create a trail perfect for different activities. Through this trail, bikers and walkers can see different local parks as well as a vintage steel bridge.

Buffalo Valley Rail Trail

The Buffalo Valley Rail Trail runs 9.5 miles between Lewisburg and Mifflinburg, and interpretive signs relate the region’s history. The trail is mostly paved at both ends but the middle section has a gravel surface, and takes you past scenic fields and farmland. It is book-ended by two craft breweries–The Rusty Rail and Jackass Brewing Company.

This trail is an 11.5-mile trail that runs past Kratzer Run, Anderson Creek, and the West Branch of the Susquehanna. This path is a former railroad line, thus making it a great path to bike, run, walk, or ski.

The Enola Low-Grade Trail stretches about 29 miles from Conestoga, PA, running along the Susquehanna River, curving inland at Safe Harbor, PA, and stretching all the way to Atglen, PA in southeastern Pennsylvania. One of its highlights is the new pedestrian bridge at Safe Harbor, which offers stunning river views.
