North Branch Region
The North Branch region of the Susquehanna Greenway has a character that is as unique and changing as the river itself, shifting from rolling meadows & forests to seemingly endless mountains, vibrant cities with industrial pasts to quaint river towns that dot the winding river valley.
This region stretches roughly 181 miles, following the river from the New York border down to the confluence with the West Branch near Sunbury, including the Great Bend in Susquehanna County. It includes the river itself as well as the parks, trails, and communities that line the river’s shores. The Classic Americana river towns nestled in the valleys are great waypoints for exploring landmarks along the river that date back to early French settlements and Native American civilizations who once called these valleys home.
