The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership (SGP) is pleased to announce the release of our newly redesigned website: susquehannagreenway.org. This long-awaited update comes 15 years after the inception of the organization as a non-profit and enhances their original website.

Since being formed, SGP has remained committed to growing the Susquehanna Greenway—a connected corridor of paddling, walking, and biking trails, boat launches, conserved lands, and communities that runs along the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania.

Alongside that mission, SGP also works to connect the public with resources, programs, and events that allow them to engage with the outdoor opportunities of the Susquehanna Greenway. Having been launched in the early 2000s, the website—pre redesign—was one such resource that served as a boon of information but, over time, became cumbersome to navigate for users seeking information.

“The legwork for this project began several years ago with a full evaluation of our online content,” explains SGP Director of Communications & Outreach, Alana Jajko. “We wanted to boil down the mass of information on our site to a format that made more sense to our users and connected them with the trail profiles and paddling itineraries they were looking for as easily as possible.”

During development, themes and designs for the new site focused on connecting the public directly to the information needed to explore the Susquehanna Greenway and minimizing the number of pathways needed to discover information. New graphics and interactive maps were also incorporated into the website to bring the Susquehanna Greenway to life, while older and confusing content was removed to better streamline the website and reduce clutter.

In conjunction with this release, the organization also underwent branding and logo updates.

“Over the past several years, SGP has taken on a direction that is refocused on connecting the public with the outdoor opportunities in their own backyard—hiking, biking, paddling, and more,” explains Jajko. “We thought it was time that our logos and color suite reflect a more welcoming feeling of bright, active engagement associated with the color and movement of these activities and the Susquehanna Greenway.”

The new logos and branding are incorporated throughout the design of the new website, setting the stage for an inviting online experience. As users navigate this new platform, they are guided through a narrative of SGP’s latest news & stories, upcoming events, the various regions of the Susquehanna Greenway, paddling routes, and the parks, trails, and river towns that can be explored within the corridor.

SGP’s Online Interactive Map has also found a home on the new website. This Google Maps feature allows users to zoom in to any area of the Greenway and click on icons that show information on trails, boat launches, and river towns. This map and the Water Trail Maps of the Susquehanna River (for sale at the SGP online shop) are among the SGP’s most popular resources and can be easily accessed on the new site.

Now celebrating 15 years as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, SGP is poised to enter a new era with a new look and a new website leading the charge to connect the public with the tools and information needed to explore the outdoors and “Get out on the Greenway!”
