The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership (SGP) is excited to announce the winners of the 15th Annual Susquehanna Greenway Photo Contest.
Each year, the contest attracts hundreds of photographs from across the Susquehanna Greenway—a 500-mile corridor for outdoor recreation along the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania. A panel of judges evaluated entries based on their interpretation of the category themes, composition, creativity, and overall photographic quality.
This year’s contest featured four categories: River from Above, Greenway in Motion, Hidden Details, and Wild & Free. With an exceptional pool of submissions, judges faced the difficult—and rewarding—task of selecting this year’s winning images.
“Every year, I think the Photo Contest can’t possibly get any better—and every year, the photographers prove me wrong,” shares SGP Executive Director Alana Jajko. “This year’s entries were creative, beautiful, and incredibly diverse, which made choosing the winners a real challenge.”
The Grand Prize and 1st Place in the River from Above Category went to Shawn Grenninger for his striking photo captured in Hyner, PA. The image shows the silhouette of an individual at Hyner View Overlook shining a flashlight beam into the night sky. You can view Shawn’s photo and all the other winners on SGP’s website at susquehannagreenway.org/15th-annual-winners and on SGP’s Facebook page.

In addition to cash prizes, winning photographs will be printed, framed, and showcased in SGP’s Traveling Gallery, which will tour communities along the Susquehanna Greenway throughout the year.
“The photo contest has become such a meaningful way to connect people to the Susquehanna Greenway,” says Jajko. “These photographs give us a chance to see the river and its surrounding landscapes through someone else’s eyes. When the Traveling Gallery moves from community to community, it brings those perspectives along with it—and hopefully inspires people to get outside and experience these places for themselves.”
In addition to the category winners, 12 Honorable Mentions were selected for public voting in the People’s Choice Category. Community members cast their votes on Facebook, resulting in three additional winners who will also be featured in the Traveling Gallery. The full list of winners and the gallery’s tour schedule can be found at susquehannagreenway.org/15th-annual-winners.
