For those seeking a challenge, Tilbury Knob offers an immersive hiking experience and a quiet, uncrowded atmosphere. Best explored from February through November, the trail invites you into a wild landscape where solitude and adventure go hand in hand.
The path is not always clearly marked, so expect a bit of bushwhacking as you navigate through forested terrain, along an old aqueduct, and pass beneath towering cliffs. As you hike, keep your eyes open for wildlife that often inhabits the area.
The highlight comes at the midpoint: a sweeping overlook of the Susquehanna River, a perfect place to pause, take in the view, and enjoy the reward of your climb. From there, you’ll retrace your steps back through the woods, completing a hike that blends rugged exploration with moments of awe-inspiring beauty.
Parking & Trail Access
Public parking is available near the trailhead.
- There is a spacious gravel pull-off on the east side of Route 29, the approximate coordinates are 41.25127, -75.99831, near the intersection with Chase Road, and the unmarked trail begins across the road
