Bloomsburg holds the distinction of being the only official town in Pennsylvania, and is the proud home of Bloomsburg University. Bloomsburg’s downtown has a mix of architecturally significant buildings, including the Columbia County Courthouse.  The downtown is one of the most vibrant and urban-feeling in the region due to the wide street and sidewalk widths, coupled with multi-storied buildings that have a high percentage of occupied walk-up apartments over first floor stores and establishments.

For river access and visibility, Bloomsburg is well-connected with several boat launches and stunning views of the Susquehanna River from Bloomsburg Town Park.  A secondary road designated as a bicycle route also runs along the river. The bulk of Bloomsburg Town Park is located on the far side of the road from the river, but there are clear visual links between the two areas to encourage visitors to cross the street and explore the riverbanks.

Bloomsburg Town Park

Activity is never lacking at the Town Park! A new and improved Kidsburg provides children a with an abundance of interactive playground equipment; swings, slides, a climbing wall, and swinging bridges keep children engaged and active for hours. The Park has baseball fields, soccer fields, bocce ball courts, tennis courts, a skate park, basketball courts, a bicycle and walking trail, a bandshell, a community pool, picnic pavilions, charcoal grills and a pond that is stocked with fish for an annual fishing derby.  The town gathers at the Park for the annual Summer Concert Series where people can enjoy a range of local, regional, and national musical performances.
