Community members from across the Susquehanna Greenway joined regional photographers, SGP staff and board members, and partner organizations at Susquehanna Scenes & Sips at the Appalachian Brewing Company (ABC) in Harrisburg, PA.
The intimate event celebrated the stunning works of the thirteen winners from the 7th Annual Susquehanna Greenway Photo Contest. The winning images were displayed alongside several previous years’ winners that highlighted the local area. In all, attendees viewed over 30 winning images in the gallery. The photos—all taken within the Susquehanna Greenway—were selected by a panel of judges as the best of four categories: Landscapes, Susquehanna Adventures, River Towns, and Youth (under 18 years old).
In addition to the award-winning photos, attendees also enjoyed a complimentary beverage from ABC, delicious appetizers, and explored local trail organizations and trail offerings from SGP partner organizations in attendance. Partners included the Capital Area Greenbelt Association, the Harrisburg Bike Share, and the Harrisburg Bike Club. SGP would like to thank these organizations for their assistance and help in identifying ways to #GetOutontheGreenway in the Harrisburg area.
If stunning photos, scrumptious food and drink, and fascinating outdoor opportunities wasn’t enough, some attendees chose to join in on the activities that were prepared for the evening. Among these activities was the Susquehanna Search, a giant word-search puzzle containing the names of River Towns, greenway features, and river activities in the Susquehanna Greenway. Others participated in a silent auction with the opportunity to win items from our generous donors: Susquehanna Life Magazines, Brushstrokes Gallery, Art Supplies, and Framing, and Appalachian Brewing Company.
“It was a wonderful event celebrating the beautiful landscapes, trails, and outdoor opportunities available within the Susquehanna Greenway,” notes SGP Executive Director Tali MacArthur. “We are very thankful to our wonderful partners, sponsors, and attending photographers who shared their winning images and inspirations with guests. The Suquehanna Greenway is home to so many inspirational locations and we are always excited to share them with the public to inspire more connections with the Susquehanna River.”
Photos from the event are now available on SGP’s Facebook and Instagram.
