The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership (SGP) is proud to announce it has been awarded a $299,900 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to advance outdoor recreation, community development, and conservation efforts along the Susquehanna Greenway in 2026.

This funding is part of Governor Josh Shapiro’s historic $82 million investment in projects across Pennsylvania to protect natural areas, expand greenways and trails, strengthen park and recreation infrastructure, and improve quality of life in communities statewide.

The award will help SGP continue building meaningful connections along the Susquehanna River while inspiring people to get outside and engage with the region’s extraordinary landscapes.

“This funding represents the largest award SGP has ever received from DCNR, and we are incredibly grateful for this vote of confidence in our mission,” said Leslie Warriner, Executive Director of the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership. “With this support, our team is energized to deepen community connections, enhance river access, and expand the programs that make the Susquehanna Greenway a place where people want to live, work, and explore.”

In addition to supporting daily operations and SGP’s slate of outdoor recreation events, the 2026 DCNR grant will fund:

  • Implementation of the SGP Communications Plan
  • Management of the West Branch and Lower North Branch Susquehanna River Water Trails
  • Coordination of the Trails & River Towns programs
  • Implementation of the 2026 Susquehanna Greenway Mini-Grant Program

The Susquehanna Greenway is a 500-mile corridor of opportunity, featuring paddling, walking, and biking trails, river access points, conserved lands, and welcoming river towns stretching along the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania.

SGP is dedicated to growing the Greenway by connecting communities, promoting active and healthy living, and fostering partnerships that strengthen the river region. This DCNR investment is a major step forward in advancing those goals and ensuring the Susquehanna Greenway continues to thrive for generations to come.
