The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership (SGP) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant in the generous amount of $299,700 from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). This funding will play a crucial role in advancing the outdoor recreation opportunities within the Susquehanna Greenway in Pennsylvania.
The grant allocation is part of a broader initiative by the state government, led by Governor Shapiro, to protect critical natural areas and open space, develop greenways and trails, provide quality park, recreation and conservation opportunities, and to improve the quality of life in Pennsylvania’s communities. In total, Governor Shapiro has allocated an impressive $79.4 million in grants to enhance community and environmental projects across the state. The SGP’s grant of $299,700 will be instrumental in furthering SGP’s vision for a Susquehanna Greenway that builds connections along the Susquehanna River, inspires people to engage with the outdoors, and transforms communities into places where people want to live, work, and explore.
In addition to daily operations and SGP’s popular slate of outdoor recreation events, this grant will support: Implementation of the SGP Communications Plan, Management of the West Branch and Lower North Branch Susquehanna River Water Trails, Coordination of the Trails & River Towns programs, and implementation of the 2025 Susquehanna Greenway Mini-Grant Program.
