The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership (SGP) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant in the generous amount of $299,500 from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). This funding will play a crucial role in advancing the outdoor recreation opportunities within the Susquehanna Greenway in Pennsylvania.
The grant allocation is part of a broader initiative by the state government, led by Governor Shapiro, to support and empower the various regions throughout Pennsylvania. In total, Governor Shapiro has allocated an impressive $52.2 million in grants to enhance community and environmental projects across the state. The SGP’s grant of $299,500 will be instrumental in furthering SGP’s vision for a Susquehanna Greenway that builds connections along the Susquehanna River, inspires people to engage with the outdoors, and transforms communities into places where people want to live, work, and explore.
In addition to daily operations, this grant will support: communications and outreach activities of SGP; SGP’s roster of events including the Susquehanna Greenway Outdoor Expo, a Susquehanna Sojourn, and the Susquehanna Greenway Cleanup Week; Phase III of the Susquehanna River Water Trail Wayfinding Program; the third iteration of the Susquehanna Greenway Mini-Grant Program; and a organizational standards and Susquehanna Greenway Visual Guide update.
Corey Ellison, Executive Director of the SGP, expressed her enthusiasm for this amazing award. “As the highest award that SGP has ever received from DCNR, we could not be more grateful and excited for the year to come. This award continues to show DCNR’s support of SGP and our activities and is testament to our stellar staff dreaming up creative and engaging projects and programs that advance our mission and vision.”
The Susquehanna Greenway serves as a landscape of opportunity for residents and visitors, offering a 500-mile network of paddling, walking, and biking trails, boat launches, conserved lands, and communities that runs along the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania.
The SGP is dedicated to growing the Susquehanna Greenway by connecting communities, promoting active healthy living, and facilitating collaborative partnerships along the Susquehanna River.
