At a Glance
The Kettle Trail offers a day hike traversing forest, mountain, and meadow views. The steep incline up Herndon Mountain is a workout, but the view from the top is worth the effort, looking out over the Susquehanna River. Plan for a steep hike, with plenty of water, snacks, and bug spray. The trail is located within State Game Lands, so be sure to wear orange.

The trail features a mix of dirt, gravel, and crushed stone sections with the choice to traverse a service road most of the way or branch off into more wooded sections. Hikers begin their trek through a beautiful meadow, approaching the mountains. As you enter the treeline, the steep incline along the service road will begin.
