Millersburg Riverfront Park, established from land set aside in 1807 by town founder Daniel Miller, offers scenic river views and direct access to the Susquehanna. Located at the start of the Lykens Valley Rail Trail and home to the historic Millersburg Ferry, the park is a relaxing and historic destination for walkers, cyclists, and paddlers.
Description
In 1807, Daniel Miller set aside nearly 20-acres of land for public park space in his original plan for “Milersburgh.” Today his legacy is appreciated by thousands of residents and visitors of Millersburg River Front Park, a gateway to the Lykens Valley Rail Trail and site of the historic Millersburg Ferry, which runs from May to October.
As its name implies, Millersburg Riverfront Park lies on the banks of the Susquehanna River, with easy river access and expansive views. It offers a picnic area and numerous benches and swings, making it the perfect place to take a leisurely stroll or bike ride and watch the river pass by. The park also features a boat launch that serves as the take-out point for the popular overnight kayaking route, Isle of Que to Millersburg Riverfront Park.
Parking and Trail Access
Millersburg Riverfront Park lies along River Street in Millersburg. Approaching North on Rt-147, cross the river and turn left on Keystone Street. Turn right on River Street, and the park is on the left. Heading South on Rt-147, cross into Millersburg and turn right onto North Street. Follow until you reach River Street. The Millersburg Ferry is straight ahead.
