Q. How do I rent a boat?

  • To reserve your kayak, simply mark your registration. Single kayaks are available for $20 each.

Q. What about check-in and shuttles?

  • All participants will need to check-in at the start location (PFBC Watsontown Boat Launch) on Saturday morning. All participants are asked to drop off their gear, boats, and any additional passengers at the put-in location in Watsontown. There will be volunteers at the put-in to assist with staging gear; they will remain at the location until the start of the event. Please note: SGP will not transport any gear during this event. 
  • Once checked-in and all gear is dropped off, drivers of the vehicle will the proceed to the take-out location in Lewisburg to park their cars. A shuttle will be at the location to bring all drivers back to the start. Only drivers will be shuttled, all other passengers should remain at the Watsontown location.  

Q. What's the address/route?

  • Our starting location (registration/check-in) will be at the PFBC Access in Watsontown, and the take-out location is at Bic's Water Sports in Lewisburg.
  • The put-in for the kayaks is located at the PFBC Watsontown Launch.

  • The route follows the calm waters of the West Branch Susquehanna River for a 7.5-mile journey from Watsontown to Lewisburg, during which paddlers will enjoy the ecology and wildlife of the river along the way. 

Q. What about lodging?

  • There are several hotels both downtown and in greater Lewisburg.

Q. Can I bring my kids?

  • This is a family-friendly event, and children are welcome to attend. However, children under the age of 12 may NOT pilot their own craft (kayak or canoe). This article from REI can help you plan for the paddle event.
  • Limited tandem kayaks and canoes will also be available.

Q. Do I need to register my boat?

Q. Is there a rain date?

  • There is not a rain date scheduled. Depending on the weather, the event will continue as scheduled for rain alone.

Q. What should I bring?

  • If it is cold and rainy, NO COTTON.
  • If an article of clothing says it is fleece (like a sweatshirt) make sure the fleece is polyester.
  • You are required to bring and wear a PFD if you are providing your own boat.   
  • Please wear appropriate closed-toe shoes, as we will be getting in and our of our boats on several occasions and the landscape may be muddy/rocky. 
  • Athletic-type/quick-drying apparel is recommended, and consider bringing a backpack or hydration pack, and snacks.

Q. What is included in my ticket?
  • Registration includes a viewing of 5-7 films, as well as access to pre-event activities and information tables with recreational opportunities in your area. All festival goers are eligible to vote for their favorite film for the Aqua-Bound People’s Choice Award and can enter to win an Aqua-Bound paddle prize pack valued at up to $375. All ticket purchases also include a free digital subscription to Rapid Media’s new Paddling Magazine as well as Rapid Media’s kayak fishing magazine, Kayak Angler.

Q. How much are tickets?

  • $15 / ticket for the float, $15 / ticket for the films, or $28 for both the float and films.

Q. What is the Paddling Film Festival World Tour?
  • Since 2006, the Paddling Film Festival World Tour has been showcasing the very best paddling films. The World Tour screens in more than 120 cities around the world. You'll be inspired to explore rivers, lakes and oceans, push extremes, embrace the paddling lifestyle and appreciate the wild places. Since Rapid Media launched the festival back in 2006, the World Tour has screened 959 times to more than 282,864 audience members. Rapid Media has awarded $71,000 to paddling filmmakers and helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for charitable causes. The Paddling Film Festival World Tour has grown to become one of the largest paddling events in the world.
Q. What kind of films can I expect?
  • This year's films have not yet been released, but this video offers some great examples of what to expect.
Q. Where else is the festival being hosted?
  • The World Tour is hosted in cities all over the world. This year, SGP is one of only two organizations hosting in Pennsylvania. 
Q. Will food be provided at the event?
