Q. How do I rent a boat?

  • To reserve your kayak or canoe, simply mark your registration. Limited rentals are available. $35 / single vessel. $45 / double vessel.

Q. What about check-in and shuttles?

  • All participants will need to check-in at Milton State Park on Saturday morning. All individuals and their boats will be shuttled up to the put-in location in Watsontown.
  • Please note: you are welcome to drop off your boat at the put-in prior or after registration. However, due to limited parking we ask that you please return to the registration area and take the shuttle. There will not be a shuttle back to the put-in at the conclusion of the event. 

Q. What's the address/route?

  • Our starting location (registration/check-in) and take-out location is at Milton State Park
  • The put-in for the kayaks is located at the PFBC Watsontown Launch.

  • The route follows the calm waters of the West Branch Susquehanna River for a 4.25-mile journey from Watsontown to Milton State Park, during which paddlers will enjoy the ecology and wildlife of the river along the way. 

Q. What about lodging?

  • There are several hotels both downtown and in greater Lewisburg.

Q. Can I bring my kids?

  • This is a family-friendly event, and children are welcome to attend. However, children under the age of 8 may NOT pilot their own craft (kayak or canoe). This article from REI can help you plan for the paddle event.
  • Limited tandem kayaks and canoes will also be available.

Q. Do I need to register my boat?

Q. Is there a rain date?

  • Rain - the event will continue as scheduled for rain alone
  • Thunder & Lightning - the event will be postponed by 30 minutes for instances of lightning closer than 6 miles at 9:30 AM (per the flash-to-bang method). If the lightning continues to be within 6 miles at 10:00 AM, then the event planning committee will discuss alterations to the schedule or cancel the event. 
  • High Winds - if winds exceed the event’s threshold for safe activity, then the event will be cancelled. 
  • Tornado Warning -the event will be cancelled. 
  • All other ‘Acts of God’ will result in the cancellation of the event. 
  • In the event of unsafe high water or low water conditions, the sojourn will be shifted to 165-acre Lake Chillisquaque at Montour Preserve near Danville, PA. This decision will be announced at least one week prior to the event. In addition to paddling, Montour Preserve offers additional activities including wildlife watching, hiking, road biking, educational displays in the visitors’ center, and a fossil pit for exploring. SGP and SRTA will work to incorporate a selection of these activities into the itinerary should the event be relocated due to water conditions.

Q. What should I bring?

  • If it is cold and rainy, NO COTTON.
  • If an article of clothing says it is fleece (like a sweatshirt) make sure the fleece is polyester.
  • You are required to bring and wear a PFD if you are providing your own boat.   
  • Please wear appropriate closed-toe shoes, as we will be getting in and our of our boats on several occasions and the landscape may be muddy/rocky. 
  • Athletic-type/quick-drying apparel is recommended, and consider bringing a backpack or hydration pack, and snacks.

Q. What is included in my ticket?
  • Registration includes a viewing of 5-7 films, as well as access to pre-event activities and information tables with recreational opportunities in your area. All festival goers are eligible to vote for their favorite film for the Aqua-Bound People’s Choice Award and can enter to win an Aqua-Bound paddle prize pack valued at up to $375. All ticket purchases also include a free digital subscription to Rapid Media’s new Paddling Magazine as well as Rapid Media’s kayak fishing magazine, Kayak Angler.

Q. How much are tickets?

  • $15 / ticket (due to the unique and changing circumstances of COVID-19, we are accepting $5.00 deposits to reserve your seat and will request the rest of your ticket price one month prior to the event)

Q. What is the Paddling Film Festival World Tour?
  • Since 2006, the Paddling Film Festival World Tour has been showcasing the very best paddling films. The World Tour screens in more than 120 cities around the world. You'll be inspired to explore rivers, lakes and oceans, push extremes, embrace the paddling lifestyle and appreciate the wild places. Since Rapid Media launched the festival back in 2006, the World Tour has screened 959 times to more than 282,864 audience members. Rapid Media has awarded $71,000 to paddling filmmakers and helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for charitable causes. The Paddling Film Festival World Tour has grown to become one of the largest paddling events in the world.
Q. What kind of films can I expect?
  • This year's films have not yet been released, but this video offers some great examples of what to expect.
Q. Where else is the festival being hosted?
  • The World Tour is hosted in cities all over the world. This year, SGP is one of only two organizations hosting in Pennsylvania.
