Attention Students - River Researchers Camp!

February 2014

The River Researchers Teen Camp is a seven-day camp hosted by Trout Unlimited's Eastern Abandonend Mine Program.

Camp will be held June 22-28, 2014 at Camp Mountain Run in Penfield, Pa.

Start looking forward to another successful year of camp filled with learning and having fun!

During camp students will learn:

  • Coldwater steam ecology
  • Brook trout biology
  • History of coal mining and its impacts
  • Environmental stewardship
  • Fly fishing and tying
  • Team building and leadership

Students can expect hands-on field experiences such as:

  • Visiting mine drainage treatment facilities
  • Taking water samples and testing them
  • Collecting and identifying aquatic insects

Registration fees are $400 per student, but no student will be turned away due to inability to pay.
