The Merrill Linn Conservancy has purchased 36 acres of ecologically significant land on the Shikellamy Bluffs adjacent to the Shikellamy State Park to protect open spaces for wildlife and to maintain high-quality water resources.
The conservancy hopes to convey the property to the state so that it can become a part of the Shikellamy State Park, which protects 160 acres adjacent to the bluffs.
The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership was thrilled to work with the Merrill Linn Conservancy and so many community partners to make this project happen. Conserving our natural places is an important part of creating the 500-mile Susquehanna Greenway. We are excited that this project will also protect the habitat, river views, and water quality for the Susquehanna River.
